Monkey pod is a hardwood that is derived from a graceful and beautiful tree with a 2-4 ft. diameter and a trunk of up to 70 ft. Our Costa Rican Monkey pod is an excellent choice for furniture and turned articles. Dark chocolate browns and golden colors swirl together with black striping to form a beautiful hue. The wood is moderately hard, lightweight and fairly strong. It finishes beautifully and turns easily, making it a natural choice for turners! Monkey pod has colors that are smooth blend of Hawaiian Koa and Chocolate Heart

several coats of non toxic 100% food safe Tung oil was applied to replace the oils /moisture that was lost in this some 900 plus year old wood ,I can tell you if she could speak it would have said thank you for sure . I never add oils to the sac or dip my flutes..... the CDC says you can get Botulism trust me i was a nurse when they say this .
adding the oil also gave the wood a nice golden shine brought out the all the wonderful colors this wood is so famous for . after the Tung oil dries soaks in about a week I hand sand/polish then apply several coats of a semi gloss // sealed slow air chamber Non toxic Crystal-lac finish with UV protectors .
We worked with two manufacturers of different finishes to come up with a great way to finish wood that adds to the life of wood ,brings out the beauty of the grains, protects the woods as well and may even help with the tonal propriety of the instrument as well
All my products are made with 100% USA products when possible for example our boring bits takes 3 3/4" inch bits to make a flute We use American Steel carbide bits made in USA our sandpaper American made our finishes are also American made as is our tools when ever I can buy them or are from a American owned company .
With this said those bits cost 150.00-200.00 each So supporting a USA company . I am proud to be American and support the American companies I do. Donating back 30 % of the products to Veterans groups and animal rescues in the Houston Texas area, So if price is such a big issue for you over quality and USA made products then I suggest you shop else where . and thank

"The terms "Native American Flute" and "Indian Flute" are used to describe the style of flutes and music that I create. It does not imply that the flutes are made by a member of a Native American tribe. Actually, I am, as most of you are, a "Native American" but not a Native American Indian. . My flutes are made "in the style of Native American" flutes. The CRAZY BEAR flutes are made by me, Robert Carlson, who is not a member of a Native American Indian tribe. Thank you for coming by my site. I hope you enjoy my craftsmanship and artistry. I strive to create flutes with the absolute best tone, intonation and visual beauty possible
